Tuesday Talks: Learning Curve

Happy Tuesday folks,

Have you ever started something and realized you don’t know everything? Maybe you’ve worked with Photoshop before but there are edits you’re not sure about. You may have experience with lots of different social media, but one platform is just a little more confusing than the others. You see an awesome DIY project on Pinterest or somewhere else online and you have no idea how to sew, where to find wood pallets or a specific kind of spray paint.

Sometimes when you decide to head down a certain path there are things you just have to learn as you go. I didn’t plan to become a freelancer while I searched for a full time job. It wasn’t something that was covered heavily, if at all in school. Nobody told me about the tax forms, being self-employed and having a business under my name.

It’s something I’ve had to do research for and something I’ve had to learn about. I’m still learning the ins and outs of it all. It’s normal to be nervous about it all but thankfully there are so many resources available from your state and from other freelancers. Nobody is going to leave you in the dark if you ask for help.

Overcoming the learning curve for whatever you’re doing is possible. Whether it be a new job, your own self-run business, a new hobby or DIY project. There are unions, networking groups, and other organizations and individuals out there for you. Here’s to learning new things every day!
